Indian Head Massage has been performed in India in families for generations and was called Champi (the origin of the word shampoo). Today it has been adapted to help with many of the health issues arising in our Western Civilisation.
By concentrating on various pressure points and massage techniques, I aim to improve blood circulation which encourages detoxification and a better oxygen supply to the cells. The immune system is stimulated and joint mobility encouraged.
I concentrate on the scalp, upper back, neck, shoulders, arms and face which helps release tension and may help with many issues :
- Improving hair vitality and thickness
- Helping with sleep
- Alleviating stress and anxiety
- Aiding mental clarity and concentration
- Relief from tension headaches and jaw tightness
What does indian head massage involve ?
I now perform the indian head massage on my therapy couch as clients, through trial, have found they prefer this as they can let go completely on the heated couch.
I start on the upper back as tension in this area is all connected to the tension felt in the neck and head. A lot of stress is found in the muscles of the face too so I work this area as well. After the scalp massage I finish with the arms and hands, to complete the circuit.
A wonderful treatment, accessing all areas in the upper body that have taken on too much stress, very often through sedentary jobs like working at the computer or long distance driving. For these conditions this treatment is a must!
